Inclusion Workshops - Young People

1 in 4 secondary school students are reported to be experiencing mild-moderate mental health issues according to the latest research. Schools are often under pressure to provide more support than they are trained or have the in-house capacity to deliver.

Our workshops are outside of the school environment and provide a creative approach to supporting children who are struggling with anxiety, bullying, gender, identity, chronic illness, self-confidence and other similar issues.

The workshops explore topics and emotions in a fun, informal and creative way. We always begin with team building exercises to enable the group to connect and get to know each other, then do some discussion around for example, what anxiety is, how it is part of our DNA, why we have it and what to do when it becomes overwhelming. We explore coping techniques and use arts and crafts as a key part of expression and relaxation. For example, we explore sleep and relaxation, making bath bombs and sleep sprays, music and mood, learning how to play certain instruments, digital production and how music can express and reflect our mood.

The workshops are usually 4 hours long and are held on weekends. Parents and carers can stay in the building, have a cuppa and chat with other parents/carers and a member of our team whilst the young take part in the workshops.

All workshops are designed and run by staff that are qualified and/or experienced in youth work, counselling and peer support.

The initial workshops were piloted as part of our Positive Active Minds Programme (PAM) which is kindly funded by The National Lottery Community Fund. For participants of PAM and CLIMB 4 members our workshops are now available at a reduced rate.
