Inclusion Workshops - Children
1 in 6 primary school age children are reported to be experiencing mild-moderate mental health issues according to the latest research. Schools are often under pressure to provide more support than they are trained or have the in-house capacity to deliver.
Our workshops are outside of the school environment and provide a creative, inclusive approach to supporting children who are struggling with worries, bullying, confidence and other similar issues. The workshops enable children to explore their emotions in a fun, informal and creative way. We build volcanoes to show how not talking about feelings can make them erupt, make positive affirmation posters and jars, play games to get them engaged and talking to one- another and explore how music can help to express emotion and to relax us.
The workshops are kept to 2 hours and are usually held on weekends. Parents and carers can stay in the building, have a cuppa and chat with other parents/carers and a member of our team whilst the children take part in the workshops.
All workshops are designed and run by staff that are qualified and experienced in childcare, counselling and peer support.
The initial workshops were piloted as part of our Positive Active Minds Programme (PAM) which is kindly funded by The National Lottery Community Fund. For participants of PAM and CLIMB 4 members our workshops are now available at a reduced rate.
